Abstract: 

This Principles and Guidelines set out in this Commentary focus on the regulatory and practice requirements for the Canadian legal profession and address the privacy and information security protections that lawyers, law firms and other legal service providers should implement in order to protect themselves and their clients and comply with legal and ethical obligations. The Commentary is intended to help all legal service providers of all sizes determine what policies and practices are best suited for them.
