Chuck was a charter member and remains a substantial contributor to The Sedona Conference Working Group 1 on Electronic Document Retention and Production (WG1). Among his many contributions to The Sedona Conference are his roles as: Co-Editor-in-Chief of The Sedona Guidelines: Best Practices Guidelines and Commentary for Managing Information and Records in the Electronic Age (2005); Managing Editor for the 2004 and 2005 annotated editions of The Sedona Principles, the Best Practices Recommendations & Principles for Addressing Electronic Document Production (Pike & Fisher), and the 2007 annotated edition (BNA); Contributing Editor of The Case for Cooperation, 10 Sedona Conf. J. 339 (2009); drafting team member of The Commentary on Information Governance (2014) and The Sedona Principles, Third Edition (2017) (for which he also served as a member of Editorial Style Committee); and a contributing editor of The Commentary on Legal Holds, Second Edition (2018). Chuck is a member of The International Association of Privacy Professionals (he is a certified information privacy professional (CIPP/US)) and was until 2017 a long-time member of ARMA International. Chuck is also a certified arbitrator, early neutral evaluator, and mediator. He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Minnesota (Information Governance, 2012 - Present), UC Hastings School of Law (Electronic Discovery, 2013 - Present), and Hamline University (Ethics in Discovery, 2014 - 2016)
