Justice Prathiba M. Singh completed her 5-year law course from University Law College, Bangalore, graduated as the 1st Rank holder from Bangalore University and engaged in LLM studies at the University of Cambridge (U.K.). She enrolled with the Bar in 1991. Before being elevated to the Bench, Judge Singh handled landmark matters in all areas of Intellectual Property Rights laws including patents, trademarks, designs, copyright, plant varieties, and internet issues. She has regularly appeared before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, High Court of Delhi, and the Trademark and Patent Offices. Judge Singh was appointed to a High-Level Committee for streamlining Patent examinations and served as an expert to present views to the Parliamentary Committees considering amendments to the Patents Act in 2002 and the Copyright Amendment Act, 2012. She was a member of the IPR Think Tank, which was entrusted with the significant task of drafting India’s first `National IPR Policy’ which was released in May, 2015. Judge Singh was elevated as a Permanent Judge of the High Court of Delhi on 15th May 2017.
