Alan is a senior counsel in the Complex Commercial Litigation group in Sidley Austin LLP’s Washington, D.C. office, where he has focused on complex commercial, regulatory, and insolvency litigation on behalf of professional firms, financial institutions, and other clients over the past three decades. Alan is a co-chair of the firm’s E-Discovery Task Force and has been the editor since 2007 of Sidley’s monthly publication, “Notable Cases and Events in E-Discovery.” He has worked on client E-Discovery preservation, production, and privilege issues; advised clients on their record retention programs; provided counseling on international discovery issues; and presented to clients and counsel on the 2006 and 2015 amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Alan serves as Sidley’s subject matter expert on E-Discovery issues for one of its large financial institution clients and was included in the 2016 edition of Who’s Who Legal for Litigation: E-Discovery. Alan also has experience in various forms of ADR, including arbitration, mediation, case evaluation and structured negotiation.
