Judge Walker became U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of California in February, 1990, having been nominated by President Bush and earlier by President Reagan. Prior to being confirmed as a Judge, he worked briefly at the SEC, was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow in Economics at the University of California (Berkeley) and practiced law with Pillsbury Madison & Sutro in San Francisco. Judge Walker is a Director of the St. Francis Hospital Foundation, a member of the American Law Institute and other professional organizations and is a former member of the California Law Revision Commission, President of the Lawyer's Club of San Francisco and Judicial Representative of the ABA Section of Antitrust Law.
