Chuck joined Proskauer in 1986 to strengthen its practice in libel, copyright and First Amendment litigation after nine years' service as national staff counsel to the American Civil Liberties Union. He recently represented the motion picture studios in their ground-breaking and successful litigation against hackers who were publicly providing illegal software for decrypting DVD's, under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Lexis-Nexis in its victory against an Internet start-up which had attempted to steal the entire Lexis database for uploading onto the Web, and a major bank in a case involving its proprietary Internet software.
