Judge Shushan has been a United States Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana since February 1999. In that capacity, she handles numerous mediation/settlement conferences involving all types of civil litigation, all discovery matters in assigned civil cases, cases automatically referred to Magistrates such as Title VII and prisoner civil rights litigation, as well as a trial docket of cases in which the parties consent to trial before a Magistrate Judge. Until her appointment, she practiced general commercial litigation with the law firm of Sessions & Fishman. She has co-taught a negotiation/mediation class at Tulane University Law School and is a member of the Tulane American Inn of Court.
