Hon. Shira A. Scheindlin
United States District Judge, Southern District of New York, New York, NY

Judge Scheindlin is a U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York, and author of the highly-regarded Zubulake decisions touching on important issues in e-discovery. She has been an Adjunct Professor at the Brooklyn Law School since 1983, and has served in numerous government and public service positions including Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York from 1977-1981, General Counsel to New York City's Department of Investigation from 1981-82, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of New York from 1982-1986, member of the Civil Justice Reform Act Advisory Group, Southern District of New York, from 1996-2000, and member of the Judicial Conference of the United States Advisory Committee on Rules of Civil Procedure from 1998 to 2006, where she was actively involved in drafting the e-discovery amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Judge Scheindlin is an Observer to The Sedona Conference Working Group on Electronic Document Retention and Production (WG1) and serves on The Sedona ConferenceŽ Advisory Board.
