The Hon. James M. Rosenbaum
Chief Judge – U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota
Judge Rosenbaum, a Minnesota native, began his
career in Chicago as a VISTA lawyer, specializing in civil rights cases. On his return
to Minnesota in 1972, he entered private practice, primarily as a trial lawyer. The
Judge was appointed U.S. Attorney in 1981, followed four years later by his
appointment to the United States District Court. Judge Rosenbaum is co-author of
the U.S. Courts Design Guide, serving as a member of the Judicial Conference’s
Security, Space, and Facilities Committee from 1989-1996. He is a recognized
authority on computer privacy issues, and the intersection of computers and the
law. The Judge regularly consults with courts, judges, and architects on courthouse
electronics, and frequently lectures on privacy and trial practice issues.
James M. Rosenbaum is on the Advisory Board for The Sedona Conference.
