The Hon. James M. Rosenbaum
U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN
Judge Rosenbaum is a Minnesota native who began practice in Chicago, Illinois, as a VISTA lawyer, trying federal civil rights cases. In 1972, he returned to private practice in Minnesota, specializing in trial work, and later was named one of Minnesota's "100 Most Influential Lawyers." In 1981, Judge Rosenbaum was appointed Minnesota's United States Attorney, serving until 1985, when he was appointed to the United States District Court. From 1997 to 2005, Judge Rosenbaum served as the Eighth Circuit's elected representative to the Judicial Conference of the United States, the Judiciary's governing authority. His articles in The Green Bag, "In Defense of the Delete Key," "In Defense of the Hard Drive," "In Defense of the Sugar Bowl," and "In Defense of Rule 808," are recognized for their analysis of the intersection of law, privacy and technology. For the past several years Judge Rosenbaum has lectured, both at home and abroad, on legal technology, electronic discovery, and intellectual property issues, and he serves on the Advisory Board of The Sedona ConferenceŽ.
