The Honourable Mr. Justice Gilles Letourneau is a Judge of the Federal Court of Appeal and the Court Martial Appeal Court of Canada. Justice Letourneau served for ten years on the Law Reform Commission of Canada, including five years as President. He was named Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry into the Deployment of Canadian Forces to Somalia in 1995 and stayed with the Commission for the duration of its term (nearly two years). Between 1977 and 1995, he occupied several different positions at the Department of Justice in Quebec. Justice Létourneau is the author or co-author of over 100 texts, reports or articles connected with the law, legislation, the administration of justice and reform and holds a Ph.D. in law and criminal procedure from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
