Sheree Kanner has served as Chief Counsel for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid since 1997. Prior to becoming CMS's Chief Counsel, Ms. Kanner managed CMS's legal work involving Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse. Her legal career also includes supervising Medicare and Medicaid litigation and practicing health law for a number of years at a Washington, D.C. firm. Ms. Kanner joined the HHS Office of the General Counsel upon graduation from the University of Michigan Law School. She is a member of the Distric of Columbina Bar and ans published numerous articles and has spoken frequently about Medicare and Medicaid law.
