Joan is Deputy General Counsel of the Public and Senior Markets Group, UnitedHealth Group Company (UGH), where she manages litigation and legal risk management. Before she joined UGH, Joan was Assistant United States Attorney and Civil Chief for the United States Attorneys' Office in the District of Minnesota. While with the Department of Justice, she was awarded the Executive Offices of United States Attorneys Director's Award for Superior Performance, the Attorney General's Distinguished Service Award and the Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General's Integrity Award. Joan has also served as Adjunct Professor at the University of Minnesota Law School, William Mitchell College of Law and Hamline University School of Law.
