Prof. Daniel J. Gifford

Dan has taught antitrust law and intellectual property law at the University of Minnesota for over twenty five years. He has co-authored two antitrust casebooks and has written extensively in both antitrust and intellectual property. Before arriving at Minnesota, he taught antitrust law at S.U.N.Y (Buffalo) and Vanderbilt University. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Michigan and the University of Pennsylvania and a Visiting Fellow at Warwick University (UK). He practiced with Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York City and was a visiting attorney with Bergson, Borkland, Margolis & Adler in Washington, D.C. In past years, he has served as the Chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association Section on Antitrust Law and as editor of its Antitrust Section News, on the Minnesota Department of Health Antitrust Rules Advisory Committee, and on the American Law Institute's Consultative Committee on Unfair Competition.
