Ms. Boast served in the Bureau of Competition at the Federal Trade Commission from July 1999 through June 2001, as Senior Deputy Director and then Director. During those two years her responsibilities included the mergers of Exxon and Mobil, BP and ARCO, GlaxoWellcome and Smith Kline Beecham, Time Warner and EMI, Dow Chemical and Union Carbide, and many others. She also supervised the FTC's several challenges to patent settlement agreements between branded and generic pharmaceutical manufacturers. Prior to joining the FTC Ms. Boast was Chair of the Litigation Dept. of LeBoeuf Lamb Green & MacRae where her practice included both antitrust litigation and representation of merger partners in matters before the FTC and the Antitrust Division of the Dept. of Justice.
