John H. Beisner is the managing partner of the Washington, DC, office of O'Melveny & Myers LLP and the head of that firm's 120-member Class Action Practice Group. He specializes in defending purported class actions, mass tort matters, and other complex litigation. Over the past twenty-five years, he has been involved in defending over 500 purported class actions filed in the federal and state courts of 40 states. Those cases have involved a wide variety of subjects, including antitrust/unfair competition, consumer fraud, employment/discrimination, environmental, products liability, and securities. He also regularly handles appeals before federal and state courts and matters before the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation. Mr. Beisner, who is a 1978 honors graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, is a frequent writer and speaker on class action and complex litigation issues, and has been active in litigation reform initiatives before Congress, state legislatures, and judicial committees.
