Tyler A. Baker

Tyler is a partner and co-head of the Antitrust Practice Group at Fenwick & West LLP and is resident in the Firm's Silicon Valley office. He has extensive experience with all aspects of antitrust law, including trial and appeal in civil, criminal, and regulatory settings. Tyler started his legal career as a law clerk to Supreme Court Associate Justice Lewis Powell, where he had principal responsibility for assisting in drafting Continental TV v. GTE Sylvania, the decision that is often described as the beginning of the Court's modern antitrust jurisprudence. He later taught antitrust and intellectual property law at the University of Virginia and served in a senior policy position at the U.S. Antitrust Division where he was the principal draftsman of the Antitrust Division's 1982 Merger Guidelines, the statement of enforcement policy that still informs merger analysis at the Antitrust Division and the FTC. Tyler has been recognized as a leading antitrust lawyer by Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, and Who's Who Legal. Prior to moving to California, Tyler practiced law in Texas where he was recognized as the "Go To" antitrust lawyer in Texas by Texas Lawyer magazine.
