The First Year of the Cooperation Proclamation

November 04, 2009     01:00pm - 02:00pm Eastern

Agenda

Panelists

One year ago, The Sedona Conference® issued the Cooperation Proclamation, calling for a return to cooperative principles in the conduct of civil discovery to stem the rising tide of cost and burden threatening to undermine the civil justice system. Since then, nearly 100 state and federal judges have signed on as endorsers of the Proclamation, it has been cited in at least a dozen reported court decisions, and it has received widespread press coverage. One federal judge recently named the Proclamation as the "most important legal tech trend" in Law technology News.

To celebrate this first anniversary, The Sedona Conference Journal® is publishing a special Supplement to Volume 10, devoted to the theme of "cooperation," with a preface by Associate Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer. This month's "Voices from the Desert" webinar will debut the Supplement and feature distinguished members of the bench, bar, and legal academia who are working to further the case for cooperation, including two members of the Civil Rules Advisory Committee of the Judicial Conference of the United States.

We invite you to register for the Webinar and receive an advance copy of the Supplement in downloadable PDF format. But we also ask you to invite a friend or colleague who may be skeptical - a senior partner with a jaded view of litigation, or a junior associate who believes that "scorched earth" tactics impress clients. There is no additional charge for more than one person to participate from any one site. Bring a PC into the conference room, dial up on the speaker phone, and make it a thought- and dialogue-provoking event.

And as always, we will take your questions and comments by text during the Webinar and by live telephone at the end.

We are NOT seeking MCLE accreditation for this program.
