The 14th Annual Sedona Conference® on Complex Litigation - Class Actions

May 03 - May 04, 2012
L'Auberge Del Mar, Del Mar, CA

Agenda

Panelists

The Sedona Conference® is pleased to present its 14th Annual Conference on Complex Litigation, this year focusing on class actions. The litigation of class actions has changed dramatically over the past ten years. The enactment of CAFA, significant new class certification precedents, the prosecutions of individual actions alongside class actions in multidistrict litigation ("MDLs"), the 2003 amendments to Rule 23, and the rise of class actions outside the U.S. have all had profound effects on class action practice.

We have an outstanding faculty of judges and leading class action lawyers representing plaintiffs and defendants who will lead the dialogue exploring these issues. Whether you are a plaintiffs' advocate, defense specialist, or in-house counsel facing risks and opportunities in class actions, you will find the dialogue intellectually stimulating and thought provoking.

A full, balanced, and robust discussion will be led by our faculty on the following topics:
(1) The consequences of CAFA
(2) Managing class actions in an MDL environment
(3) Managing complex class and simultaneous individual actions
(4) The level and types of proof that are required for class certification and the implications that follow
(5) Indirect purchaser and unfair practice claims under state law
(6) Coordination of US - Canada class actions
(7) Ethical issues and challenges for court appointed counsel

To ensure an intimate environment for meaningful dialogue, registration is limited to 45 persons, and is BY INVITATION ONLY. TO APPLY FOR AN INVITATION, just click on the "To Register" navigation bar on the left side of this page, complete the form, write "APPLICATION" at the top, and fax it in to the number indicated on the form. We will be looking for an experienced participant base with diverse viewpoints to contribute to the dialogue leading us to valuable insights and collective wisdom. We will advise you as soon as possible if your application is accepted.

We have a group rate for lodging at the Program hotel. Hotel reservation information will be provided to invitees upon registration. Government employees will receive a $250 discount, if they indicate their government employment on their registration forms. Financial Aid policy is available upon request.

We are applying for accreditation for 11 hours of MCLE credit, including 1 hour of ethics credit, in states requested by those who register.
