About Us

The Sedona Conference® is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) research and educational institute, dedicated to the advanced study of law and policy in the areas of antitrust, intellectual property, and complex litigation. Since its founding in 1997, it has developed an international reputation as a balanced and forward-looking law and policy think tank that has and will continue to provide constructive contributions to the reasoned and just development of law and policy. Already, judges, lawyers, consultants and others from 47 states (missing ND, WY., and AK), the District of Columbia, and 6 countries have participated in the Conferences and Working Groups of The Sedona Conference. Output from The Sedona Conference has been cited in cases, reports, articles, bibliographies, and commentary, both domestic and international.

Together with a blue-ribbon Advisory Board, founder and Executive Director Richard G. Braman utilizes his decades of experience in the litigation of antitrust, intellectual property rights and other complex matters to steer each conference to the leading edge issues of law and policy. His strategy is to bring the right mix of people to a remote, yet beautiful location, and then to provoke enthusiastic discussion, using the conference theme and written materials as springboards. The strategy has been succeeding; the level of discussion and debate at the conferences has been consistently described as "thought provoking and inspiring." (See Raves.) There simply is no comparable forum for the serious discussion of leading edge issues of law and policy involving fundamental aspects of our legal system and the structure of our society.
